CELLAR
Summary
The CELLAR Working Group met with low attendance, lacking a quorum. Discussion focused on the status of the Matroska document and best practices for publishing new drafts. Key updates included a plan to publish version 9 of the Matroska specification and guidance on when to checkpoint document changes via new draft publications.
Key Discussion Points
- Matroska Document Status:
- Steve informed the WG that the main Matroska document is nearing completion for current to-do items.
- Two open issues have associated pull requests ready for merging; one other issue was deemed irrelevant.
- Progress is pending comments, particularly from an absent participant.
- Draft Publication Frequency:
- Martin inquired about the appropriate frequency for publishing new drafts, especially given significant changes in his document.
- The Chair clarified that IETF Working Groups have flexibility in their operations. Frequent publication is less critical if WG members track changes directly on GitHub repositories.
- New draft publications serve to checkpoint significant changes and primarily keep non-GitHub-tracking mailing list subscribers updated.
- If the primary engagement is via GitHub, frequent publication solely for external visibility is less necessary.
Decisions and Action Items
- Steve plans to merge the ready pull requests for the Matroska document and publish version 9 within one to two weeks, assuming no further comments.
- Following the publication of Matroska v9, Steve will initiate requests for reviews.
- The Chair noted the monthly change in meeting URLs and will follow up internally regarding this process.
Next Steps
- Steve to proceed with publishing Matroska version 9 and soliciting reviews.
- The next CELLAR WG meeting is scheduled for the fifth Tuesday due to IETF 113.
