CELLAR
Summary
The CELLAR Working Group held its second meeting in April to review the status of current documents and discuss administrative items. Key updates included the progress of FLAC-8 towards IESG publication, the ongoing work on Matroska-16, and the significant development of a new EBML GitHub page with integrated errata and releases. An issue with the IETF iCalendar file showing incorrect meeting times was also raised for follow-up.
Key Discussion Points
- Administrative Matters:
- The co-chair, Michael, was absent due to a migraine. The acting chair (Steve) apologized for starting late and technical difficulties.
- Previous meeting minutes were accepted without objection.
- Working Group Document Updates:
- Matroska-16: No new updates. The working group is still awaiting a write-up from Vad and a sector review.
- FLAC-8:
- Submitted to the IESG for publication.
- Awaiting AD evaluation from Murray, who is on vacation until the end of the month.
- A pull request (number 212) was added to GitHub incorporating additions from the media type review. These changes were minor (two lines added, a few changed) and were not deemed substantial enough to warrant a new version submission at this stage. The consensus was to wait for AD evaluation comments before submitting further updates to avoid frequent, minor revisions in the data tracker.
- FFV1: No new updates or discussion points.
- EBML GitHub Page:
- Vad provided an update on the work-in-progress EBML GitHub page.
- A GitHub release has been created containing the original RFC text and an HTML file with all errata applied. This allows users to download a ZIP file with the updated documents.
- The intent is to generate new releases whenever errata are applied to the RFC.
- Participants noted that this initiative is a leading effort within the IETF for managing and updating published RFCs.
- IETF iCalendar Issue:
- A participant reported an issue with the IETF iCalendar file, where planned CELLAR meetings (and potentially other working groups) are showing incorrect times, shifted by approximately eight hours due to a time zone conversion problem, despite the data tracker having correct times. This issue appeared to have started recently after a database update.
Decisions and Action Items
- Decision: The meeting minutes from the previous session were accepted without objection.
- Action Item: The working group will review the new EBML GitHub page implementation (with errata and releases) at the next meeting to ensure everyone has a chance to review it.
- Action Item: The chair (Steve) will report the iCalendar time zone issue to the appropriate IETF staff for investigation and resolution.
Next Steps
- Continue to monitor the AD evaluation process for FLAC-8.
- Await the write-up from Vad and sector review for Matroska-16.
- The next CELLAR WG meeting is scheduled for May 23rd.
