MPLS

Summary

The MPLS Working Group interim meeting covered two primary topics: open technical questions regarding MPLS Network Actions (MNA) concerning Entropy Label (EL) and Equal Cost Multi-Path (ECMP) hashing, and the necessity of "stickiness" for the No Fast Reroute (NFFR) flag in MPLS Fast Reroute (FRR) deployments. A presentation on the NFFR flag stickiness highlighted potential looping issues in double-failure scenarios if the flag is prematurely cleared. Discussions identified several action items, including further investigation into MNA interactions with other MPLS features and a call for detailed mailing list discussions on MNA's implications for ECMP/EL.

Next Steps

The working group will continue these discussions on the mailing list. Participants are encouraged to provide detailed text proposals for the MNA documents to address the identified open questions regarding ECMP, EL, and mutable data. The chairs will coordinate efforts to establish or revive a document that clearly specifies the necessary "stickiness" of the NFFR flag.
