**Session Date/Time:** 26 May 2026 19:00 # [CELLAR](../wg/cellar.html) ## Summary The CELLAR Working Group held a brief virtual meeting to review the status of active documents, discuss pending errata, plan the adoption of new extension documents for EBML and Matroska, and coordinate future rechartering efforts. ## Key Discussion Points ### Administrative and Document Status * **Note Well**: The meeting was held under the IETF Note Well guidelines. * **Meeting Minutes**: The minutes from the March meeting were approved without corrections. * **`draft-ietf-cellar-tags`**: The draft is currently in the RFC Editor queue. * **`draft-ietf-cellar-codec`**: The draft is currently in IETF Last Call. Robert Sparks noted that no feedback has been received yet, but comments are expected closer to the last call expiration deadline. * **FFV1 V4 (`draft-ietf-cellar-ffv1`)**: * Jérôme Martinez reported that an edit Pull Request (PR) is active for CFA Bayer RGGB support. * Jérôme Martinez is preparing a new PR for floating-point support, which is already implemented in FFmpeg code. * A discussion is ongoing on the FFmpeg development list regarding the implementation of Bayer RGGB support. * The target delivery timeline remains Q4 2026 at the earliest. ### Errata and New Specifications (EBML & Matroska Updates) * **Errata**: Robert Sparks noted a reported errata that needs to be processed. Charles Eckel was thanked for his assistance with processing recent errata. * **EBML and Matroska Extensions**: * Steve Lhomme proposed introducing two new drafts to define extensions: one for EBML (`draft-ietf-cellar-ebml-update-one`, previously referred to as `draft-ietf-cellar-ebml-corrections`) and one for Matroska (`draft-ietf-cellar-matroska-update-one`). * The EBML draft will define schema additions (adding new attributes to validate Matroska additions) and incorporate errata for RFC 8794. * The Matroska draft will focus on additions/extensions. * To simplify tracking and integration, Robert Sparks and Steve Lhomme agreed to designate both drafts as "Updates" documents to their respective base RFCs, allowing pending errata to be folded directly into them. * Charles Eckel (Area Director) supported adopting these documents as working group -00 drafts, noting that while they stretch the boundaries of the current charter, they will be fully covered once the charter is updated. ### Rechartering * The working group discussed the need to update its charter to formally cover the new EBML and Matroska extension documents. * Steve Lhomme suggested using the mailing list to coordinate and discuss the proposed text. Spencer Dawkins and Robert Sparks agreed. ## Decisions and Action Items ### Decisions * Approved the March meeting minutes. * Agreed to adopt `draft-ietf-cellar-ebml-update-one` and `draft-ietf-cellar-matroska-update-one` as working group documents. Both drafts will be designated as "Updates" to incorporate errata alongside new features. ### Action Items * **Steve Lhomme**: Resubmit the EBML update draft as `draft-ietf-cellar-ebml-update-one-00` (the previous submission expired while pending approval). * **Robert Sparks / Steve Lhomme**: Submit `draft-ietf-cellar-matroska-update-one-00` once the repository is ready. * **Robert Sparks**: Proceed with processing the outstanding reported errata. * **All**: Propose and discuss draft charter text on the mailing list prior to the next meeting. ## Next Steps * The next virtual meeting is scheduled for June 23rd. * Spencer Dawkins noted he will likely be absent due to travel, but Robert Sparks will chair the session. * The primary focus of the next meeting will be reviewing the new draft submissions and discussing the proposed charter text.
