OAUTH

Summary

The OAUTH Working Group held a virtual interim meeting to discuss the integration of HTTP Message Signatures (RFC 9421) with OAuth Proof of Possession (PoP).

Rifaat Shekh-Yusef opened the meeting and reviewed the Chairs Slides, noting the Note Well guidelines and outlining the schedule for the upcoming series of virtual interims. Hannes Tschofenig acted as the secretary for the session.

Justin Richer presented HTTP Message Signatures for OAuth PoP, covering the core concepts of draft-richer-oauth-httpsig (co-authored with Aaron Parecki, Paul, Filip Skokan, and Christian Bormann). The working group discussed the use cases for HTTP message signing, comparison and coexistence with DPoP, implementation complexity, and generic versus OAuth-specific client authentication. A adoption poll was conducted to gauge working group interest in pursuing this draft as a starting point.
