MAILMAINT

Summary

The MAILMAINT session covered updates on several drafts nearing completion, including discussions on implementation status reporting and server behavior in UID Batches. New proposed work on "MAILMAINT Grossingness" (a list of effective IMAP extensions) and a "Personal Data Portability Archive" (an open format for user data export) generated significant technical discussion, particularly regarding format choices, encryption, and the challenges of integrating calendar data. The working group also reviewed active drafts on Unicode Mailbox Names, OAuth profile, and Legacy Autoconfig, with a substantial portion of the session dedicated to the proposed new Autoconfig (PAC/Gwack) and its security implications, MX fallback mechanism, and IANA registry considerations. Finally, an extensive discussion took place on the "Unobtrusive Signatures" draft, focusing on its mechanism, non-alignment with DKIM, and the critical question of whether its scope fits within the MAILMAINT charter, with a general sense of support for adoption.
